BMW unveiled the next step for their motorsport division in a press release issued today. The driving force behind this new chapter is the new BMW M6 GT3, which will replace the Z4 GT3.
Preliminary testing of this new race car will commence in 2015, and customers will even be able to house their own M6 GT3 in their garage by the end of 2015. Owning this car will allow them to compete in the 2016 BMW Sports Trophy.

“For me, as BMW Motorsport Director, there are few things more exciting than the development of a completely new car like the BMW M6 GT3,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt in the press release. “This car’s properties make it predestined to succeed the BMW Z4 GT3.”
Powering the M6 GT3 is a BMW M Twin Power Turbo 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine. This engine is similar to the one found powering the production model M6, but it has been tuned specifically for racing.
