Since its official unveiling, the BMW i8 captured the attention of millions and rapidly sold out. As with most new cars, the i8 began as a concept and had photos frequently leaked on the internet, keeping customers begging for more. Now, BMW has approved production of the next step in the “i Project,” the i8 Spyder.
According to a Dec. 17 post from bimmerpost.com, an inside source at BMW has verified that the Spyder has been approved. The Spyder will offer all of the same performance figures as its Coupè brother, only now it’s topless. Production of the Spyder will mean increased availability for i8 customers, and by the looks of the images we think it will sell out just as fast as the beloved Coupè.
