Bentley announced today in a press release that the Continental range will be gaining a new and even more powerful model: the Bentley Continental GT3-R.
Based on the new Continental GT3 race car, the GT3-R combines the track elements of the race car with Bentley’s proven road credentials. The engineers have tuned the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to now produce 572 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
Combine this power with the 220 lbs weight loss and shorter gearing, and you have the recipe for Bentley’s fastest-accelerating vehicle ever, completing a 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.6 seconds.
Another revision that has been made for the sake of performance is the addition of torque vectoring to the all-wheel drive system. Combine this with a chassis built for cornering ability and the modified Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the Continental GT3-R is also the most responsive Bentley road car ever.
Bentley has also added a few exterior modifications for the GT3-R. A new front splitter and fixed rear wing add downforce and a more aggressive appearance. The headlight bezels, grille, window surrounds and bumper strips will all be finished in gloss black, contrasting with the Glacier White finish found on all GT3-Rs produced. Two-tone green graphics will also be found on the sides of the car, which trace the lines of the car.
Even with its track-focused DNA, the Contintental GT3-R provides unrivaled interior luxury. The cabin is laid with carbon fiber, Alcantara and some of the finest leather. The bespoke racing seats provide excellent support through deeper bolsters, but also provide comfort thanks to Beluga black leather with diamond-quilted Alcantara finish.

“The experience of driving a Continental GT3-R is awe-inspiring, and takes the dynamic abilities of our Grand Tourer to new heights. We were inspired to create something extremely special for the road by the performance of our Continental GT3,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors. “It is a celebration of the Bentley passion for building outstanding drivers’ cars. To be a true Bentley, the GT3-R had to be the most luxurious track-inspired Grand Tourer ever, and this car pushes our trademark combination of luxury and performance to a new level.”
Only 300 examples of the Bentley Continental GT3-R will be produced, with order books now open and no prices given in the press release. Deliveries will start in late 2014.
