Making its premiere at the 2015 Auto Shanghai Show on April 20 is the new Audi prologue allroad show car. This new five-door concept car was unveiled in a press release issued by Audi today and they promise it will be a vehicle able to handle “any terrain, in any situation.”

Coming in as the third member of the prologue family, Audi is using this concept to give the world a glimpse at the brand’s design future. If this is the case, consider us impressed.
The 16.8 ft long prologue allroad has a large front end and a sloping roofline that drops at the rear. Flared wheel wells filled by 22-inch wheels hint at the car’s all-around capabilities. In the front, a wide Singleframe grill is integrated into the body of the car, with headlights utilizing the Matris laser technology on each side. Its rear is quite dramatic, giving off what Audi says is a “dynamic appearance even when standing still.”
Inside the car is an elegant cabin that is both spacious and luxurious. The most exciting part of the interior is the new instrument panel. According to Audi’s press release, “across its full width, the front of the instrument panel is designed to be a display surface which integrates three touch displays.” This exciting new media layout will allow the driver and side passenger to control the infotainment options, climate control and more with just the touch of the screen. The most interesting feature is the side passenger’s ability to send the driver options to the screen behind the steering wheel with just a swipe.
Providing power to the prologue allroad is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic transmission. When power sources are combined, the power output is set at 734 hp and 663.8 lb-ft of torque. This is good enough to rocket the capable show car 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds. What’s most impressive is that even with its amazing power figures, is consumes an impressive 98 mpg. Additionally, it can travel on pure electricity for 33.6 miles. Albeit, it won’t be rocketing as it would when the V8 is engaged, but a quiet ride is sometimes nice.
