As the years go on, the Volkswagen Passat grows larger and larger. The sedan was first produced in 1973 to be an efficient but comfortable lineup for the Volkswagen Auto Group, a task it has executed better than just about any other vehicle in its class. We had the chance to take a closer look at the 2014 Passat and see exactly what it has to offer for the midsize sedan shopper.
Looking at the exterior you see that it’s a very clean, simple design. The lines provide the aerodynamics needed for both efficiency and performance while keeping true to the traditional appearance of the Passat. The design blends seamlessly from the front to back and offers a luxurious look with just a dash of sport.
Inside the Passat was delightful. It was luxurious and equipped with the pristine sound of a Fender Premium Audio system. The multifunction, leather-wrapped steering wheel offered great comfort and matched the other leather trimmed features in the cabin, including the comfort seats, shift knob and parking brake. Conveniences such as a back up camera and keyless entry were also included in the model we were provided, making this luxurious family car even more practical in everyday use.
Driving the Passat is a pleasant experience. It offers a sporty punch from the 3.6-Liter V6 engine that produces 280 hp and 265 lbs-ft of torque. The sedan offered a great pick-up from a complete stop and maneuvered around corners like a car of a higher class. While cornering, the sport seats hold you in place around corners while offering optimum comfort for long trips.
The Volkswagen Passat is offering more options this year than ever before, such as the Driver Care Package and different technology packages. It’s a fantastic family car made for those who desire efficiency in their everyday driver, coupled with a luxury and space for kids in the rear seat. duPont REGISTRY highly recommends this vehicle to those who need an everyday family car or even a first car that offers optimum safety for teens.
