Coachbuilding firm Pininfarina S.p.A. is no stranger to elegant design. They have created designs for countless luxury automobile manufacturers, such as Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and many more. Needless to say, they have quite the track record. However, they have recently switched gears for a new project announced in a Jan. 28 press release with their creation of the 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano writing instrument.
The word “writing instrument” is used because it is neither a pen nor pencil. Each 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano is completely handmade from aluminum and wood, and features an ethergraph nib, which is a special metal alloy that leaves a trail on the paper like a pencil would, but which cannot be erased, like a pen. What’s more, the 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano will never have to be refilled or sharpened, hence the name “4.EVER.”
Accompanied with each writing instrument is a notebook made of stone paper, which is made of stone powder and is water resistant and stronger than traditional paper.
Pricing and availability for the 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano is unknown, but be sure to come back to this page for more information as it is released.
Turin, 28 January 2014 – World debut in Frankfurt at Paperworld, the world’s leading fair for stationery and writing instruments, for 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano, the everlasting writing instrument. The tip in Ethergraph, realized with a special metal alloy, allows to write indefinitely with no ink and no refill.
Pininfarina conferred to the tool a strong stylistic identity able to enhance the technological tools. Taking inspiration from the Cambiano concept car, elegant and essential lines have been created that, thanks to the combination of innovative and classical material, as the aluminum and the wood, confer a unique character to the object.
The 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano will be matched with a notebook realized in stone paper, a paper manufactured from the stone powder, stronger than the traditional one and water resistant, an eco-friendly material with a minimal environmental impact. The notebook is enriched by the original sketches of the Cambiano concept car.
“Pencil and notebook – affirmed Chairman Paolo Pininfarina – are the fundamental designer’s stoke-in-trade. We wanted to create, with Napkin’ collaboration, a kit addressed to all the people who love design and innovation, giving life, at the same time, to a timeless object with the typical traits of the Pininfarina style: elegance, purity and innovation”.
