With just 20 examples making it to production, the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection is the latest exclusive offering from the British marque. Unveiled in a press release issued yesterday, Oct. 2, this new bespoke model features some of the finest materials Rolls-Royce has to offer.
The interior pays homage to some of the world’s greatest metropolises through small pieces of wood veneer that form decorative motifs. For example, when the picnic tables found behind the front seats are folded down, the passengers are greeted with a top-down view of a city. This visual was created through the application of 500 individual wood veneer pieces.
“I can think of no more fitting location than Paris to debut this remarkable new motor car. This is a city that echoes Rolls-Royce’s very special brand promise in perfectly combining the timeless and modern in a manner that celebrates the art of the master craftsperson,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, in the press release. “Our customers across the globe delight in challenging our designers and craftspeople to create true, one-of-a-kind pieces of automotive art. This latest Collection serves to showcase the extraordinary scope for Bespoke personalisation afforded to every patron of the marque.”
A specially developed Aetherius Grey leather color was created for this Phantom, which echoes the color palette of a modern city. On the central rear seat flutes are 6,800 two-tone stitches that depict an abstract image of a skyscraper. Additionally, the interior has, for the first time in the company’s history, a bespoke clock with a rotating bezel that expresses 24 of the great cities of the world and their respective time zones.
On the outside is an exterior finished in Darkest Tungsten, a color inspired by city skylines. If a customer looking at purchasing a Phantom Metropolitan Collection would like to opt for another color, they can choose from the 44,000 colors that Rolls-Royce offers.
