Its been 50 years since Porsche was created, and to celebrate this milestone, they have created the 2014 Porsche 911 50 Years Edition. Suitable name? I like to think so.
The car itself is based on the 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S, powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six boxer engine that is good for 400hp. The difference between a normal Carrera S and the 50 Years Edition doesn’t come in the mechanical department, but instead in the visual.
On the outside you will find a wider body when compared to the Carrera S, Fuchs style wheels, and chrome trimming. Another important exterior addition is the new badging, which lets everyone know that this Porsche is a celebration of one of the finest automakers in existence.
Inside of the 911 Carrera S 50 Years Edition, Porsche went for some retro-styling changes. The green accents and silver caps on the instrument panel are reminiscent of Porsches from 50 years in the past. Another blast-from-the-past is the fabric pattern found on the leather seats. This pattern is just like the “Pepita” tartan design from the 1960’s.
Only 1963 models of this car will be made, a number that represents the year the 911 made its world debut. They will be available this fall for $124,100.
