The Nissan GT-R NISMO, which had photos leaked Nov. 18, was officially unveiled today in Yokohama, Japan. The new model is an icon of the future of the already adored GT-R; it boasts both hybrid technology and newly developed performance that brings the supercar to whole new levels. Not only did Nissan let their in house tuner, NISMO, sink their deadly claws into the flesh of the renowned Godzilla, they also tested the new creation on the Nürburgring to get an amazing 7:08.69 track time.
The supercar boasts a 3.8-Liter twin-turbocharged V6 powerhouse that produces 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. Rumors have it that the GT-R NISMO will launch from 0-60 mph in just two seconds; however, this has not been confirmed.
There’s no doubt that the new GT-R NISMO looks fantastic under the show lights. We look forward to seeing it in our local showrooms, but apparently we’ll have to wait. While the NISMO will be released in Japan in February, the United States won’t have the honor of seeing one on the streets until 2015. Until then, we will be anxiously waiting to have the opportunity to drive one. The video below certainly doesn’t ease our patience.
