High-performance American auto manufacturer Saleen has made quite an impression lately. Since discontinuing the SALEEN S7R in 2007, they’ve been relatively quiet in the auto world aside from the renowned aftermarket parts still offered by their factory. This year, we’ve seen new projects in the works for the American manufacturer, such as the upcoming S8. Now, according to a Dec. 3 article from Autocar.com, Saleen has officially announced that they have a new electric car in the works.
“We recognize that electric cars are a trend, not a fad, and expect this vehicle category to continue to increase as an automotive option for consumers,” said Steve Saleen, CEO of Saleen, in a Dec. 3 article from Autocar.com.
He continued in the same article to say, “We intend to enter this market with an offering that is truly innovative and offers the styling and craftsmanship associated with the Saleen Automotive brand. The rapid pace of advancements in electric vehicle technology makes our entry into this market sector timely and should expedite completion of this project.”
The rebirth of the company is more than exciting. The manufacturer seems to be returning to the world of production cars with a vengeance and having other manufacturers ready to step up their game. We look forward to information on the full figures and capabilities of one of the most incredible aftermarket manufacturers in the world’s new lineup.
