The Venturi team has been operating at the runway of the Wendover airfield in Utah since Sept. 12 and was surprised to receive a visit from Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene. The Prince had come to unveil the Venturi VBB-3 for its world premiere and certainly gave it an entrance well fit for the most powerful electric car in history.
The VBB-3 produces 3,000 hp and is designed completely for speed; it’s taken two years of development for the Venturi team to finally establish an electric vehicle with enough power to reach the land speed record. While they hope to have it breaking records by 2014 across the salty flats of Bonneville, testing as of yet has proven impossible due to weather conditions.
However, this will not stop the team of entrepreneurs from building a dream and reaching 600 km/h with their electric VBB-3. With the support of the Prince and Princess behind their ventures, we’re sure the team will take the dream even further than expected and show the world what Venturi can really do. Perhaps this will make for an even stronger push for manufacturers to produce electric performance cars in the future and become a gateway to a more predominantly electric automotive industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) The Venturi team received Wednesday the visit of HHSSHH, the Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Princess Charlene on the runway of the Wendover airfield (Utah, USA) where the team has been operating for the past eight days.
For its world première, the Sovereign of Monaco came to unveil the Venturi VBB-3, a brand new Venturi electric car with more than 3.000 CV.
After 2 years of development, this land speed record vehicle was supposed to run on the salt flats of Bonneville over the past few days, but due to poor weather conditions the FIA had to cancel these attempts.
The Prince Albert therefore came to bring his support to the entrepreneur from Monaco Gildo Pallanca Pastor, president of Venturi Automobiles, leader in the field of high performance electric vehicles and whose company holds since 2010 the FIA world land speed record for an electric vehicle (495 km/h).
At this occasion, the designs and the technologic innovations at the heart of this project have been explained at length to the Prince and the Princess.
Real laboratory for technology, the Venturi VBB-3 is the result of an extensive collaboration started in 2009 between Venturi Automobiles and The Ohio State University. This third generation of Venturi “Jamais Contente” is the most powerful 100% electric car ever built, and is striving to exceed 600 km/h by 2014.
Gildo Pallanca Pastor: “I am proud of sharing with the Prince Sovereign and the Princess the launch of this new sportive, technologic and environmental challenge. It is truly thrilling to work on such a project to help tomorrow’s mobility to progress.”
