Lego must know that our tax refunds are in hand or on the way, because they are about to cash in on our love for all things 911 with a new 911 GT3 RS kit. Just released from their Technic division, the packaging and literature are a far cry from the pictographs you’re probably accustomed to. Not for the timid builder, the instruction manual is bound in a glossy book, and is about as thick as a mid-sized novel.
We all hoped for a seven-speed manual, but it was not to be. This Lego car has a working PDK dual clutch transmission. You read that correctly, this toy has a better transmission than your car. Each kit is numbered and comes with a driver’s bag that is easily stowed under the hood. The rear spoiler is adjustable for track days, but the proprietary three-lug replacement tires might be hard to come by. Yellow brake calipers and coil over suspension are also standard equipment in the 2,704-piece kit.
Working directly with Porsche engineers, this kit is an incredible reproduction of a real car. It will be available for order on August 1st, and it will probably sell out quickly. If you are lucky enough to have a coworker Lego enthusiast, reading the instruction book backwards will provide a great way to quickly part out this GT3 if you need to make some cash. Each car is numbered, so left in the original packaging, its guaranteed to be coveted by 911 owners.
