Returning to the luxury of custom built wagons from high-end coachbuilders, Mercedes-Benz is reinvigorating the term “Shooting Brake” in a powerful new way. In a press release from Daimler and a post on their Facebook page, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake to the world, Mercedes-AMG’s fourth high-performance compact car.
“The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake serves up an enthralling blend of supreme power and dynamic handling on the one hand plus efficiency and everyday practicality on the other, all beautifully packaged within an extraordinary design,” Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said in the release.

A 2.0-liter turbo engine is capable of producing approximately 460 hp and 331 lb-ft, impressive for a four-cylinder. But even with an impressive amount of power from a relatively small engine, the release states the AMG Shooting Brake is still capable of averaging 40 mpg (6.9 liters per 100 km).
