Lexus has been instilling more sport into their daily drivers than ever before to draw in the younger crowd with more exciting demands. With the redesigned 2014 Lexus IS 350, the Japanese company hopes to take the crown for best mid-size sedan from Germany this year and show the world what it’s like to endure “The Pursuit of Perfection.” For a week we had the honor of enjoying this sporty sedan here in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and seeing exactly how Lexus achieved perfection.
The luxury car delivered to us gleaned in Matador Red Mica and sat on sporty 17” aluminum wheels. The newly designed exterior of the car was crafted to have a smooth, flowing aggressive architecture. The rear end of the sedan resembled a design very similar to the F-Type, and flowed well with the side skirts of the vehicle, creating an elegant, continuous image all around.
Stepping inside, we were introduced to a very comfortable and convenient interior. The center console has been redesigned from last year to be simpler and easier to use. The steering wheel hosts controls for the radio and cell phones and were easier to operate than most vehicles in its class. The sound system inside was as good as we expected; with Lexus’ Premium Display Audio System, we enjoyed fantastic sound the whole week.
The IS 350 was, without a doubt, a fun ride. The car came equipped with a 306 hp 3.5-liter V6 DOHC engine that used an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to create an incredibly smooth but exciting ride. The car offers three driving modes, Eco, Normal and Sport, each of which offer their own flavor of vehicle for drivers and passengers alike.
