Want to take a race car directly onto the streets? Of course you do. That is why Lamborghini is bringing out the new Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse. This car takes the high performance of motor racing and brings it to the streets. Its based off of the Gallardo Super Trofeo found in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series.
The name refers to the recently-founded department within Lamborghini that manages all motorsport activities from the aforementioned Blancpain Super Trofeo series, all the way to the GT3 series.
It shares the same V10 engine found in the racing version, with absolutely no modification – it also has the same rear wing as the racing version. This engine boasts 570hp, a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph. Mated to the engine is the e-gear six-speed transmission that is operated by paddle shifters.
The aluminum and carbon fiber construction create an incredibly lightweight and sturdy car. In fact, it weighs 154 pounds less than the Gallardo LP560-4 with the Squadra Corse weighing 2954 lbs. With this weight and power, its power to weight ratio 5.18 lbs per hp.
Running along the sides of the Squadra Corse is a stripe consisting of green, white and red, a tribute to its Italian heritage. Finishes available for the car are Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white), Grigio Thalasso (grey) and Rosso Mars (red). With the stripe and the Grigio Thalasso finish, the Squadra Corse looks very similar to the Lamborghini Veneno.
Carbon fiber and Alcantara are bountiful inside the car. The underside of the dashboard, central panel of the seat cushion and backrest are all covered in the luxurious Alcanatara. The doorpanels, racing seats and center console are comprised of carbon fiber. If you are aiming for more of a comfortable ride, Lamborghini does allow you to opt for comfort seats instead of racing bucket seats.
