After the unveiling of the coupe version, the inevitable release of the new Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster occurred on Friday, August 14 in Monterey, California. More specifically, the unveiling of the new Roadster happened at “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering,” a famous event held during the Monterey Car Week.
‘‘The Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever. The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience,’’ said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, at the event according a press release issued the same day.
Making the Aventador SV Roadster a “roadster” is a two-piece hardtop comprised of carbon fiber. These two piece, together, weigh only 13.2 pounds and can be stowed away in the luggage compartment.
As with all Superveloce models, the Aventador SV sees a 50 hp increase over the base Aventador. The press release states that the Aventador SV is packing 750 hp, 509 lb-ft of torque and a weight of 3,472 lbs, a 110 lbs decrease in weight compared to the base Aventador Roadster. These figures make for a power-to-weight ratio of 4.6 lbs/1 hp.
And, of course, the car’s introduction would not be complete without impressive performance numbers. Sync the previously mentioned figures with Lamborghini’s seven-speed ISR transmission and you get a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 217 mph.
If you’re looking to pick up one up, the Aventador SV Roadster will cost you $530,075. What’s more, only 500 examples will be created, making it quite exclusive and rare. So if you’re itchin’ to pick one up, act fast.
