The English are known for creating cars that define elegance in motion. From their curves to their exquisite drive comfort, Jaguar has created some of the most elegant cars. While their latest venture, the F-Type, throws Jaguar’s hat back into the sports car market, they have not forgotten their roots.
The 2013 Jaguar XJL Portfolio is a fine example of British style and engineering. On the outside, you will see a sleek, sloping body thanks to the extra 4.9 inches compared to the base XJ. While you can make a statement on the streets with a tuner car, this car will make a statement when pulling up to a business meeting.
Inside the XJL, the interior is chock-full of amenities to ensure the driver and passengers have a relaxing and comfortable drive. These include: heated and cooled seats, TV’s, an 8-inch touch screen, and much more. At first we felt a bit cramped in the driver’s seat due to the rather large center console, but after some time we became used to it and were able to immerse ourselves into the car.
Jaguar has made sure that you can build an XJL just to your liking. Depending on your personal taste, you can choose from a plethora of leather and veneer options, each just as gorgeous as the next.
Even though Jaguar is known for elegant cars, they always make sure that their cars also come well-equipped in the power department. Under the hood of our XJL Portfolio was a 5.0-liter V8 that is good for 385hp. Even though this car has a length of 206.6”, it still gets to 60mph from a dig in only 5.4 seconds. When on the move, the XJL not only goes in a hurry, but glides along the pavement. We compare it to driving on a cloud, if that was possible.
If you would like, you can opt for the AWD version of the XJL. In the AWD model, a 3.-liter V6 is used instead of the V8. Unfortunately, this drops the power by 45hp, but you do get a better grip on the road in those snowy Northern states.
Jaguar might have taken some wrong turns along the way, but it seems that they are on the right path with not only the Jaguar XJL, but with their entire lineup.
