It takes a special automaker to transform the already magnificent Ferrari 458 into something even greater. That is why Ferrari used their prestigious team of engineers and designers to create the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Take everything you love about the base 458, add greater aerodynamics, more power and new technologies, and you get the 458 Speciale.
The most aerodynamically efficient range production car in Ferrari history.
One of the greatest achievements of the Ferrari is the increase of power in the award winning 4.5-liter V8 engine. After some meticulous tuning, the V8 produces 596 hp, cranking up the base’s 562 hp. Torque stays stagnant at 398 lb-ft. To further the power’s capabilities, Ferrari reduced the weight of the Speciale from the base model’s 3,274 lbs to 2,843 lbs. This creates a power-to-weight ratio of 4.77 lbs per hp (compared to the Veyron’s 4.16 lbs per hp) and 135 hp per liter.
If you are the type of person who believes power figures are unimpressive until proven, know that the 458 Speciale has a 0-62 mph time of just 3 seconds flat, a 0-124 time of 9.1 seconds and a Fiorano lap time of 1:23.5 seconds – .5 seconds slower than the F12berlinetta. These times are not only a result of the increased power, but of the 458 Speciale being the most aerodynamically efficient range production car in Ferrari history with an E Index of 1.5. New Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires were specifically conceived for the Ferrari 458 Speciale, allowing for maximum grip in dry and wet conditions.
Expect the Ferrari 458 Speciale’s world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
