The tale of the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat grows more exciting with the latest revelation announced today in a press release from Dodge. According to the release, the Hellcat officially produces 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it:
- The most powerful Challenger ever.
- Dodge’s most powerful V8 engine ever.
- The most powerful muscle car ever.
This power all comes from the new 6.2-liter V8 engine that now features Dodge’s first application of V8 supercharger technology. The Hellcat also comes with two key fobs, which control how much power the engine puts out. The black keyfob limits the car to 500 hp, while the red one unlocks the full 707 hp. Mated to this engine is the new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcats are being built at Dodge’s Brampton, Ontario assembly plant and will start arriving in dealerships in the third quarter of 2014.
