The Malibu is Chevrolet’s mid-size luxury sedan that is built to deliver top-of-the-line comfort with competitive performance. The sedan offers a diverse blend of leather and wood trimming and power unmatchable by most competition. It was first introduced to the market in 1964 and discontinued in 1983, just to be resurrected in 1997. Recently, we had the chance to see exactly how far the modern day classic has gone with the all new Chevrolet Malibu 2LZ.
The Malibu delivered to us arrived in a crystal red color with chrome trimmings running from the grill all the way around to the rear. The exterior was equipped with a sunroof, 18” aluminum wheels, HID headlights, LED taillights and fog lamps, giving the sedan a newer, fresher look. Brake rotors are also noticeably improved with all new Duralife rotors.
The interior of the Malibu was, of course, exceptionally comfortable with full power options, leather appointed heated seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and a 7” color touch-screen radio head unit. The seats offered a genuinely gentle ride and were completely adjustable to meet our liking. The audio system is equipped with six speakers and is capable of Bluetooth streaming so that you may play your music on the go.
Like many other Chevrolets, the Malibu’s engine is equipped with Ecotec technology for greater efficiency. While efficient, it can still deliver exceptional power through its 2.0-Liter turbo four-cylinder engine. Electric power steering and standard paddle shifter are also present to keep you in control at absolutely all times.
The Malibu is a reborn classic, a phoenix of its own breed. The buyer that should consider this is the consumer looking for a sporty yet luxurious sedan, or even as a first car for the teen. With a $35,105 price tag you can’t go wrong. Get to your local Chevrolet dealer to take one for a test drive today.
