A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 once owned by the “King of Cool” himself, Steven McQueen, is going up for sale at RM Auctions’ Monterey event in August, according to a press release issued May 8.
The vehicle, chassis 10621, was special ordered by Hollywood Sport Cars for McQueen in 1967. When it was ordered, it was finished in a metallic gold paint, known as Nocciola. McQueen had the car repainted in Chianti red before he even laid a hand on the steering wheel.
He also had the car fitted with the Borrani wire wheels from his 275 GTB N.A.R.T., which had recently been involved in an accident.
McQueen eventually received delivery of the car on the set of “Bullitt,” one of his best known movies. He held on to the car for five years until he sold it in 1971 to fellow actor Guy Williams, best known for his roles in “Zorro” and “Lost in Space.”

After changing hands a few more times over the decades, the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 was purchased by its current owner in 2010. Upon purchasing the car, he commissioned Ferrari Classiche to restore it to its former glory. After the restoration, the owner agreed to have the car displayed in Museo Ferrari as part of the “From Cinecittà to Hollywood, all Ferraris in the Cinema” exhibition.
Now, in perfect condition, the car will be changing hands once more this August.
