August only happens once a year, and last Saturday we were blessed with the hottest cars and coffee of 2014. The stifling weather didn’t deter our attendees, as our east parking lot was full by 7 a.m. Exotic Motors Midwest arrived early with a vintage Countach and new 458 Spider. The prime spots at the south lawn were quickly taken by new models from local dealerships. A 2015 Wraith was seen amongst McLarens, Bentleys and a solitary Aston Martin. Mercedes Benz of Tampa arrived with a new CLA45 AMG, which caused a commotion among the Deutsche enthusiasts.

The east lot was populated with Corvettes and Camaros by the dozen, and several stunning classics caused quite a stir. A 1933 Buick (image 1363) was seen among late model muscle and a vintage Winston Cup NASCAR Dodge that was barely street legal. A right-hand drive Skyline and an incredibly restored VW Rabbit drew crowds of import fans. Inside BLVD Customs, spectators were able to view the progress of current projects, such as Publisher Tom duPont’s Widebody Mustang, a 1973 Toyota FJ40 restoration and a wild interpretation of a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr. We had everything from rust buckets to resto mods, and, as usual, it was standing room only. Come see us Sept. 20 for our next Cars and Coffee event; we’ll try to be sure the temperature is a little cooler.
