I have been reading The duPont REGISTRY for as long as I can remember. When I first received an opportunity to shoot inside of their showroom, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I knew this would be a rare chance to see some of the most exotic cars and meet some very unique people. I will say that not much can compare to the feeling of walking into the office of one of the most renowned names in the automotive industry for the first time, much less the feeling of having complete access to the building. It was comparable to the first time I pushed the elevator button at ASG offices in California, when I was going to Snowboarder Magazine for the first time in my younger years, and that was the first magazine office I had ever visited.
The duPont REGISTRY is everything it is said to be. Beyond having the history of the magazine and almost every car, every office has its own unique personality centered around cars. The main “space” of the office is an extremely large two-story showroom that houses a very unique collection of cars. Not only is it the home of cars ranging from the original model T to some of the most modern super cars, its inventory changes almost weekly. It is basically a dream for car enthusiasts. My most recent experience there was shooting a Lamborghini Aventador right next to Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s actual NASCARs.
If those few points are not enough to make this a dream office, they have a monthly Cars and Coffee event that will blow your mind. It is one of the largest Cars and Coffee events for many reasons. There are always hundreds of cars all over the a few parking lots, which combined are worth millions and millions of dollars. I particularly remember standing on top of the roof with Steven Chapman looking at 3 massive parking lots, all full of cars ranging from Ferraris to classics to muscle cars and very rare supercars. Not only are there an amazing amount of rare cars, but the people you meet will stand out forever. I have met professional car drivers and random celebrity musicians that have shown up for the event.
Now, if you can add up all of the previously mentioned aspects and imagine sitting in the showroom, lights out with a new Lamborghini Aventador, Allen Wong from Rego Apps, a few close friends, a light on a monopod and a PhaseOne system with one of the best cameras on the market, it will pretty much sum up an “average” day of shooting at this office. I was surrounded by millions of dollars worth of cars and extremely successful people while doing what I love to do with the best equipment possible. This kind of opportunity does not come around too often; it was only my second time in a year with the crew at duPont REGISTRY.
I have learned over my years of photography that there are many things you can do to stand out, be the best, do something different and meet all kinds of unique people. One of the most important things I have learned is to take in every moment of work and realize that I am living a dream I had when I was younger. I try to step back from every situation and take it all in, and now I am extending that opportunity to you. The workshop with The duPont REGISTRY and PhaseOne will not only teach you the skills to stand out, and put the best products in your hands from PhaseOne, but it will also put you in front of some of the most influential people in the automotive industry. This is a very rare opportunity that has very limited space, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible. And, thanks to Induro Tripods, you will be able to receive early sign up pricing until just before the event!
