After its world premier at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the BMW X6 M has caught the eye of crossover enthusiasts. But for those who had already become an X6 owner, it seemed like they had missed a chance for theirs to wear the M badge. Luckily, this wasn’t so.
According to a Dec. 6 press release, there are now new M Performance Parts available for the X6, offering owners a chance to add a little extra touch of the racetrack to their Sports Activity Coupe. The release states that, “As well as attractive design enhancements for the interior and exterior, the line-up also includes functional accessories which increase the engine’s power, for example, and lace its soundtrack with a stronger emotional appeal.”
For the exterior, there are now a carbon front splitter, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, rear fins and rear side flaps in a sporty high-gloss black, as well as other options. While also improving aerodynamic capabilities, these new touches add a sharper, slightly more aggressive tone to the body.
The interior’s ambiance can now be cranked up a notch by adding LED door sill plates brushed in stainless steel, an Alcantara steering wheel with attractive carbon trim, stainless steel pedal covers and floor mats with eye-catching M Performance lettering, among other options.
Of course, when it comes to the M line-up, the most impressive improvements appear in the car’s performance. The new Power Kit for the X6 xDrive30d increases the horsepower from 258 to 277, and torque from 413 lb-ft to 431. In the X6 xDrive35i, power is increased from 306 hp to 326 and from 295 lb-ft to 332. Despite these increases in performance, the fuel economy does not change from the base in either package.

There’s also a feature to help drivers have the best experience possible every time they get behind the wheel. It doesn’t aim to improve the car itself in any way, but rather, it aims to help the driver improve. As the release describes, “The BMW M Performance Drive Analyser consists of an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) stick, which is plugged into the relevant socket in the car.” This stick records driver information and relays information via bluetooth connection to an app available for both Android and iOS users. All information is saved to the app, and can be reviewed at any time.
As always, BMW has pushed the boundaries of innovation and improvement even further than before. We look forward to seeing what’s in store next for the M badge; be sure to stay with us as we find out.
