To celebrate Marco Wittmann’s amazing season with BMW and his allegiance to BMW for the upcoming seasons, the German automaker unveiled the new BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in a press release issued Oct. 19.
“The production version of the BMW M4 Coupé is the new centrepiece in our range. We could obviously not have hoped for anything better than for Marco Wittmann to win the BMW M4 DTM’s very first race and to end the season as the champion in the drivers’ and team standings,” said Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH, in the press release. “You cannot get more emphatic proof of the performance of our cars. Therefore, it is a pleasure for us to recognize Marco Wittmann’s performances by launching a BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition in the colors of his Ice-Watch BMW M4 DTM.”
The car will be exclusively offered in Alpine White and will feature a rainbow of colors on the hood. All signature features of this special-edition model will be crafted at the BMW Individual Manufactory in Garching, Germany. On the doors is the number “23,” along with “WIT” and “DTM Champion 2014,” each of which pays tribute to Wittmann’s spectacular season and his number.
Inside, the door sill plates feature Wittmann’s autograph. The carbon fiber interior trim strips feature the words “DTM CHampion 2014” and the car’s serial number.
Only 23 examples of this car will be created, which also reflects Wittmann’s car number.
