It’s without a surprise that BMW is replacing the M3 DTM with a new M4 DTM, officially titled the “M4 Racecar.” The Racecar will be released in late December with an $88,290 price tag to be a more “cost effective racecar” for customer racing teams in need of something more economical. However, nothing is compromised with the affordable price, especially not performance.
The M4’s TwinPower Turbo 3.0-Liter I6 engine has been upgraded with a new engine management system (EMS). This EMS can be tuned for various racing scenarios and can increase power up to 368 ft-lbs of torque. Upon its release, it’s rumored that the racecar is set to compete in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship alongside the European FIA competitions.
We wait eagerly for more details about the vehicle, such as the weight and other engine specifications. BMW insiders claim that beyond the M4 Racecar, there is another racecar in the works. Stay tuned to find out what it is, when it will be available and where you can buy these high-performance machines.
