The BMW i3 is a little economical hybrid that won’t be winning any races any time soon. The BMW i8 is sleek and stylish economical hybrid that is looking to throw you back into your seats. Yes, BMW is really pushing their hybrid “i” line, and are planning on revealing their upcoming i8 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. We may have seen spyshots of the car recently, but we have yet to see an uncovered example.
For those unfamiliar with the BMW i8, consider BMW’s high-end convertible sports car. It won’t be as powerful as the other sports hybrids like the 2015 Acura NSX or Porsche 918 Spyder, but it is expected to pack at least 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Like the BMW i3, it will also have a heavy focus on carbon construction to counteract the weight of the heavy batteries.
The i8 will be found at BMW’s amazing section at the Frankfurt Motor Show which features a custom track where customers can test drive the i3. The figure-eight test track will span across three levels and directly over the showroom floor. Could this be one of the coolest automotive show booths ever?
Be sure to come back September 10 when the Frankfurt Motor Show starts to see more on the BMW i8.
