For the past 10 years, the BMW 1-Series has been a hit for the German manufacturer. With the upcoming release of the new 4-Series as successor of the popular 3-Series Coupé, BMW will also be introducing a 2-Series to succeed the 1-Series Coupé.
The 2-Series is designed to create a sporty and emotional profile when silhouetted. A low cut ride and a stretched roof and bonnet come together to create a sport design that clearly defines it as a BMW. While the new line-up will introduce the company’s steps towards the future, it also reflects its steps from the past. The compact Coupé stands with the confident presence and driving dynamics that were seen in BMW’s “2” line-ups, such the BMW 2002 in 1968.
Driving dynamics of the 2-Series reflect its aggressive body style with two engine options. The buyer will have a choice between the 220i model with a four-cylinder engine, which is capable of producing 184 hp, and the M235i model with an inline six engine boasting 326 hp. Both engines deliver a similar driving experience with ultra-sporty characteristics that will excite even the pickiest of drivers.
The Coupé is a direct display of the brand’s image and proudly represents the evolution of BMW. The company’s two-door vehicles boast the incredible racetrack handling and sharp maneuverability demanded from a sports car, and these are only enhanced by the variety of engines.
Customers purchasing the M235i will not only get the dynamic driving experience found in the Coupés, but will also be purchasing the most powerful petrol engine in the BMW M Performance Automobile range. The date of the 2-Series release is still unclear, but we expect it to be in early 2014. Keep up with us and your local BMW dealer to get your next daily driver.
