Audi’s legacy of perfection was awarded at yesterdays red dot gala. A jury comprised of 37 experts from 24 countries is presented with 4,600 products from over 54 countries. Each is carefully judged and awarded if the jury sees fit. The “red dot award” product design 2013″ was presented to Audi while three if their models achieved red dot awards of their own.
The Audi R8 brought home a prestigious award, but this was to be expected. It was awarded the nights top award, “red dot: best of the best”. When asked about the reasoning behind this vote the jury responded, “It is designed and elaborated to an extraordinarily high level. Its proportions are balanced, it has perfect poise and its aesthetics are of high caliber.” There you have it; the Audi R8 is perfectly poised. The Audi A3 Sportback and Audi A3, are no stranger to red dot awards, having won in last year’s event. Both were rated highly this year and received the “red dot” for styling quality.
Chief designer Wolfgang Egger described the process that went into designing the 2013 Audi models in one clever analogy, “The design process often resembles a dynamic car trip, with all its highs and lows. For innovative creation to take place, things repeatedly need to be looked at from a variety of perspectives and new solutions invented without losing sight of the brand’s DNA.” Receiving these prestigious red dot awards only reaffirms the fact that Audi continuously manages to improve upon their design while maintaining their high standard in excellence and engineering.
