Today has been full of revivals, with the 2016 Ford GT being brought back to life, and now the Acura NSX as well.
At the North American International Auto Show and in a press release issued today, the 2016 Acura NSX was unveiled to the world. This new production model of the NSX is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. Additionally, the NSX also receives power from an all-new three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system.
“Our commitment was to create an all-new NSX that is true to the heritage of NSX—a supercar that delivers a new driving experience, one where every part of the vehicle is respectful of the smartest part of the car, the driver,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of the Acura division, in the press release. “The soul of a car is the emotional connection it makes with the driver. With the NSX, that connection will be intense and immediate.”
The new 2016 NSX is comprised of multiple materials, including aluminum, carbon fiber and ultra-high strength steel.
Grounding the NSX to the ground are ContiSportContact™ high-performance tires, with 245/35Z R19 in the front and 295/30Z R20 in the rear. These tires are fitted to 19×8.5 inch wheels in the front and 20×11 inch wheels in the rear.
According to Jerry Villagrana, our eyes and ears at the NAIAS, the NSX will have a $150,000 starting price.
